Why Crafty Lefty?
For starters, I am a southpaw and damn proud to be one. The nickname solidified itself in college when a teammate of mine related my basketball game to a quirky left handed starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants named Kirk "Woody" Reuter: slow, unathletic, unassuming, but somehow skilled, sneaky, and competitive enough to be effective. Put two and two together and you get "Crafty Lefty". Pretty much sums up my athletic career.
Why am I writing? Call it therapeutic... And I just might know some things about some things.
What do I write about?
Life, family, friends, relationships, movies, sports, TV shows, and even work are on the table for discussion. Pretty much whatever is on my mind when I sit down to write ends up on this blog.
I've been known to rant about reality TV shows such as American Idol and The Real World Road Rules Challenges. I am not afraid to tell you about my feelings towards trending topics in sports. I love to sing the praise of Friday Night Lights. I certainly enjoy the movie going experience and often share my adventures on this blog - film reviews, movie theater etiquette, Academy Award nominations, my favorite movie-theater candy (milk-duds).
I am often a self deprecating soul, as I am most definitely flawed - in life and in this blog.
I love shoot em' ups and chick flicks. The Wire is my favorite TV show of all time, yet I religiously watch American Idol, Brothers and Sisters, and have not missed a single episode of The Hills. I'll see Twilight w/out my girlfriend and I've read the Harry Potter series more than once. But I'll be up at 5am to watch the British Open or World Cup, even when Tiger is out of contention or the US is back home playing in the MLS.
I am a die-hard sports fan, but a glass is half-empty fan to the fullest. My heart has been broken and stomped on and spit at by sports. I am a San Francisco Giants fan (nothing else needs to be said). I am a 49er fan, born too late to fully appreciate the dominance of the 80's and early 90's.
I refuse to gamble on sports (minus office pools and fantasy). I can always find a rooting interest no matter the sport, regardless of the situation. My fandom is connected to everything.
Lastly, I am a hopeless romantic. I love my girlfriend. If you read my blog, you will learn this quickly.
